What is Luminox Light Technology?
Luminox Light Technology (LLT) is a system that provides unmatched self-powered illumination lasting up to 25 years. Unlike other luminosity systems, which depend on exterior light sources to charge, the luminosity is built right into Luminox watches, allowing you to see the time, no matter the conditions.
Every Luminox watch contains tiny, self-powered micro gas light tubes (borosilicate glass capsules), which are always lit. The capsules are located on the hands, hour markers, and, when necessary, on the bezels. These light tubes are safe for humans as well as the environment and are individually installed by hand into every watch.
Why does light intensity of LLTs differ?
The luminosity of LLT's is perceived differently by humans. The following factors have an impact to the visibility.
Firstly, we utilize the colors red, orange, yellow, green and blue for our LLTs . The colors green and orange are located in the middle of the light spectrum, which make them easily visible to the human eye and are the easiest to be seen.
Secondly, in the water, colors lose their intensity very quickly. For example, at a depth of 5 meters the color red is no longer visible. Blue is still visible at a depth of 60 meters. The intensity is very subjectively perceived. Young eyes can see better and more intense than older people. The daily condition also plays a role. In a dark building, the intensity of the LLT’s is perceived as much weaker than in the dark in nature. The reason being the UV radiation which is always present to a certain extent outdoors, intensifies the effect.
Finally, LLT loses intensity over the years. We guarantee the luminosity for 10 years, knowing that they can glow for up to 25 years.
What is the difference between Super-LumiNova® and LLT?
LLTs are self powered and do not need an external light source to “charge” in order to glow. Whereas Super-LumiNova® provides luminosity for up to 8 hours before requiring an external light source, Luminox Light Technology (LLT) offers self-powered illumination for up to 25 years. Luminox Light Technology further separates itself from other watches utilizing electro luminescence by bypassing the need for a button which consumes battery power.
