Andrew Ong is a community advocate and the co-founder of Break The Cycle, a movement dedicated to giving ex-offenders a second chance through cycling, mentorship, and community.

A PAST REWRITTEN
Andrew’s early life was marked by difficult choices and hard consequences. A troubled adolescence led to incarceration at just 18 years old. Life after release was no easier—social stigma, rejection, and relapse tested his resolve at every turn. His turning point came when he realised how far he had drifted from the person he wanted to be. That moment sparked a decision that would change everything: to reclaim his life, rebuild his identity, and move forward with purpose.
DIVING DEEP INTO ADVENTURE
Rebuilding didn’t happen overnight. Andrew worked across industries, returned to school, and eventually found his calling at the intersection of social work, business, and community service.
In 2019, a personal health scare pushed him toward cycling—not just as exercise, but as a form of healing. What started as a way to get stronger physically soon became something much bigger.
Andrew founded Break The Cycle, a cycling initiative that supports ex-offenders on their reintegration journey. Through movement, discipline, and community, participants are welcomed into a space that is supportive, inclusive, and free of judgment.

For many, Break The Cycle has opened doors—to confidence, skills, employment, and a renewed sense of self-worth.
EVERESTING FOR SECOND CHANCES
In June 2025, Andrew took his advocacy to new heights—literally. He completed the Everesting challenge, riding 220 loops up Mount Faber to match the elevation of Mount Everest (8,848m). The feat was part of Everesting for Second Chances, a campaign raising awareness of the uphill battle ex-offenders face when reintegrating into society. The challenge wasn’t about personal glory. It was a symbol of solidarity, perseverance, and belief—values that mirror both Andrew’s mission and Singapore’s resilient spirit.
EVERYDAY ACTS, BIG IMPACT
Andrew believes heroism lives in the small moments.
Checking in when someone misses a ride. Waiting when someone falls behind. Creating space where people feel seen, supported, and valued.
As he continues advocating for fair employment practices and policy change, his mission remains clear: to move forward together, empowering transformation through community—one ride at a time.
