According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), the leatherback sea turtle is the world’s largest turtle and the only species of sea turtle without a hard shell. The leatherback gets this name from its tough rubbery skin. A true world traveller, leatherback sea turtles are known to migrate over thousands of nautical miles and dive to depths of 4,000 feet. Measuring up to 6 feet in length and weighing as much as 2,200 lbs, the leatherback is not only an ocean giant, but also the namesake of one of Luminox’ most successful watch series.
